County laboratories

1.

The board of supervisors, when it shall have determined to establish a county laboratory, shall have the power:

(a)

to acquire by purchase, exchange or otherwise, necessary real property, building or rooms or to erect necessary buildings;

(b)

to cause to be assessed, levied and collected in the same manner as other charges against the county, such sums of money as it shall deem necessary for laboratory purposes; provided, however, that where a laboratory is intended to serve less than a whole county the expenditures made in connection therewith shall be assessed only against the area served by the laboratory; and

(c)

to accept and hold in trust for the county any grant or devise of land or any gift or bequest of money or other personal property or any donation to be applied, principal or income, or both, for the benefit of said laboratory.

2.

Nothing in this article shall be construed to repeal or amend any provision of law not inconsistent herewith relating to laboratories in counties or to abrogate any powers of boards of supervisors relating thereto.
