N.Y. Legislative Law Section 7-G
Senate historian


The temporary president of the senate may appoint an official historian, who shall compile an annual record of significant senate accomplishments during each year and submit to the temporary president such written record within one hundred twenty days after the close of each session. The historian shall serve without compensation, at the pleasure of the temporary president, and be responsible for preparation of the history of the senate during such temporary president’s tenure. Appointment as senate historian shall be made from names submitted by the deputy majority and the minority leaders of the senate. No person shall simultaneously hold the positions of assembly historian and senate historian.
