N.Y. Correction Law Section 323
Sale of property


The court in the judicial district in which a person is sentenced to life imprisonment may empower, authorize and direct a committee of such person to sell any of the real or personal property of such person, and to do whatever may be deemed necessary in the management of any of such person’s property in the manner prescribed for a committee of an incompetent. The court may from time to time, in the manner prescribed upon the sale of the property of an infant, if it deems it necessary, or that the estate will be benefited thereby, direct the sale of any of the real or personal property by said committee, and the investment of the proceeds of such sale. The court shall control such committees in the performance of their duties; and may from time to time modify and alter its direction or orders in any matter pertaining to an estate.
