N.Y. General Municipal Law Section 226
Transfer of duties of railroad commissioners to supervisors


Every town in which railroad commissioners heretofore appointed or elected under the provisions of any general or special statute of this state authorizing towns to incur indebtedness in aid of the construction of any railroad, remain in office, and in which the duties imposed by such statutes, upon such commissioners, are not yet fully performed, is hereby authorized and empowered, at an annual town meeting, or at a special town meeting called for such purpose in the manner prescribed by law, to authorize the transfer of the powers and duties of such railroad commissioner or commissioners to the supervisor of such town, by a resolution to such effect passed and adopted by a majority vote of all persons voting at such town meeting.
