N.Y. Education Law Section 669
Regents awards for children of deceased state correction officers and state civilian employees of a correction facility


1.

Eligible students. Awards shall be made to resident children of state correction officers and state civilian employees of a correctional facility who died as a result of an injury sustained in the line of duty during the period from September ninth, nineteen hundred seventy-one through September thirteenth, nineteen hundred seventy-one, inclusive.

Amount and duration. The award shall not exceed the sum of tuition, educational fees, room and board charged by the state university of New York nor shall it be for more than four academic years of undergraduate study or five academic years if a program of study normally requires five years, as defined by the commissioner pursuant to article thirteen.

Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of this chapter, no child of a state correction officer who is receiving an award under the provisions of § 668-A (Regents awards for children of deceased police officers, peace officers, firefighters and volunteer firefighters)section six hundred sixty-eight-a of this article shall receive an award under the provisions of this section.
