The board of supervisors shall appoint a clerk who shall serve during the pleasure of the board and until his successor is appointed and has qualified.

The clerk shall keep a record of all acts and proceedings of the board and be the custodian of the records, vouchers and other papers required or authorized by law to be deposited in his office. He shall have custody of all policies of insurance of all types carried on the corporate property of the county and shall keep a record properly indexed showing the property, name of insurance carrier, amount of insurance and date of expiration of all policies. He shall prepare the tax rolls, except when otherwise directed by the board of supervisors. He shall perform such additional and related duties as may be prescribed by law and directed by the board of supervisors.
