N.Y. Correction Law Section 197
Occupational therapy


Nothing in this article contained shall be deemed to apply to occupational therapy in any penal or correctional institution, or to prohibit the sale of the products resulting therefrom. Such sale and the disposition of the proceeds thereof shall be governed by rules and regulations of the head of the department or other like governmental authority having jurisdiction. For the purpose of this section, occupational therapy is defined as any activity in the nature of individual art or handicraft, prescribed, guided or supervised for the purpose of contributing to the welfare or rehabilitation of any incarcerated individual or incarcerated individuals of such institutions.
